Vancouver Alternative Arts & Fashion Week - #VALT2016
ARTIST/PHOTOGRAPHER/FILMMAKER APPLICATION
EARLY BIRD Application Deadline: March 30, 2016 ($20 Fee)
FINAL Application Deadline: April 30, 2016 ($30 Fee)
Application to VALT 2016 is a 3-step process.
1. Pay the application fee
2. Submit your supporting materials
3. Fill out the application form
We recommend reading through the entire process - including the terms and conditions at the bottom of this page - before beginning submission.
2. Submit your Supporting Materials:
To apply online, you must submit all of the following supporting materials via Dropbox - not by email.

What we need from you:
Please use/share a folder that has your Name/Brand/Collective in its name. Example: "VALT2016-Application-DrewPictura"
Include the following in the folder:
For Visual Artists: 5-10 Portfolio Images of your most recent or current work
- JPEG
- Can be the work you would like shown, but does not have to be.
- Photos/Illustrations must be colour, high resolution (minimum 300 DPI)
- Minimum size 2x3 inches – maximum size 8x12 inches.
- Use our file naming convention:
[Artist/Collective]-[Title]-[##].jpg 
For Filmmakers: A Single Video File & Description
- Please share either a link, or share the video file in AVI format.
- Include a description in DOC, WPS or PDF format.
For Visual Artists: List the work you are submitting
- For Visual Artists: list of work saved in DOC, WPS or PDF format
- Can be the images submitted above, or proposals for work not yet completed.
- For each piece you are submitting, include the following if known/available: a title, date of production, materials/media, dimensions (important - if proposing a piece, please include proposed dimensions), and price (if for sale).
- Use our file naming convention for the list file:
[Artist/Collective]-List.doc
1. Pay the Application Fee:
To apply online, you must pay the application fee before submitting your application.
Why is there an application fee?
The application fee helps cover the administrative expenses of collecting and processing the applications, including website development and programming. The application fee also filters out frivolous entries, ensuring that our volunteer judges only spend time reviewing serious entries by committed artists and film makers.

Applications received after April 30th, 2016 will not be considered.
Application fees can be paid by:
- Cheque (addressed to Style, Entertainment, Art & Media Society - SEAMS) if applying by mail. Mail with application.
- Paypal (submitted to SEAMS.BC@gmail.com).

3. Fill out the Application Form
Please make sure you have completed the above requirements before submitting the application form.

By applying you hereby agree to the following terms:
• All applicants agree to the rules and regulations set out by VALT.
• All applicants must submit a completed application and entry fee (Early Bird: $20, Final Deadline: $30).
• Applicants may submit work for more than one category, as separate applications.
• Application materials will not be returned. Please do not submit original work.
• VALT will provide the venue in which work will be presented & will promote accepted artists.
• VALT reserves the right to cancel any of the categories if there are not a sufficient number of applicants and has the absolute discretion to refuse any applicant, decline any participation or withdraw any entries from the event at any time.
• VALT reserves the right to withdraw any applicant if the final artwork / collection is not up to standard (unfinished, unprofessional, etc.).
• The applicants shall be solely responsible for the costs of production, maintenance, safety and good condition of his/her work at the event, and VALT shall not be held liable for any loss or damages of the work submitted for the event.
• All additional promotional material that the artist chooses to distribute, such as press packages and invitations relating solely to their show, must be provided by the artist.
• Design, art, film and music ownership shall be vested with the designer/artist/musician.
• VALT reserves the right to use all entries and documentation for promotional or publicity purposes before or after the event.
• All applicants will be notified regarding their acceptance before June 30, 2016 by phone and email.
